Clearly I ain't so swift with math or time zones. Getting this station into operation has been a self-imposed rush job. Which could be why there have been so many weird errors. In particular the server would lock up so that the only way to get back in control was to hold the power button down for several seconds to shut down.
It had all the hallmarks of a DirectX9 issue. So I reinstalled it. Nada, no joy. Then I went to the classic skin in Winamp and hard set the stream to 96kbps @ 44.1kHz all kinds of stuff I tried. Oh and when it locked up, it played the same track, over and over, all night long.
This morning I woke to yet another lockup. So I loaded the latest Winamp and Shoutcast and let it rip. Several hours in, the chipmunks are back. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuccckkkk!!!!!!

Ok, it's the server. The SSD failed. A new one is on order and may be here in a week depending on the holiday madness.
The chipmunk problem is a mismatch in the sampling rates of some MP3 files. WinAmp/Shoutcast wants a strict 44.1kHz at 96kbps. During the last resampling effort I didn't bother with files that were already 96kbps. Turns out some of them are sampled at 16kHz, 48kHz etc. So the stream has a collision trying to expand and contract tracks on the fly.

The Kutaisi station is running on a temporary server, perfectly. It has 72 hours of programming.
I think we need someone from Georgia on the team. After all, we're in the Georgia that was a former buffer colony founded in the 18th century AD. The city of Kutaisi was established in the 8th century BC.
So once again West Georgia Underground is scattering musical mayhem and a lot of programming freedom.
